Pinot Noir – Domaine De Valmoissine 750ml

Tasting Note: This Pinot Noir comes from a renowned Burgundy producer this time working outside of Burgundy. The area encompassed by Var includes the Bandol and Côtes de Provence regions, both of which have strict requirements that their red wines must include Mouvèdre and Grenache among others. As a Pinot, this falls outside of those requirements, and so must be designated IGP Var. This is an excellent introduction to European Pinot, at a very good price. Earthy and ripe with dried fruit and herbal tones and a classic structure, this is a wine for food – enjoy with strong cheeses, or beef tenderloin. (VINTAGES panel, Oct. 2016)
