A tribute to the Rioja Alta and its essence. The tradition and craftsmanship that constitute classic Rioja winemaking. It is so special that it is only made in years when the conditions are excellent. Born from old vines on the Sonsierra that give it its own special freshness.
It is a very complex wine, with a marked presence of oak owing to its extensive ageing, with aromas of ripe fruit and notes of biscuit, nougat, and cocoa. The wine has a long and persistent finish, showcasing good acidity and well-integrated tannins.

VARIETY: 90% Tempranillo, 7% Graciano and 3% Mazuelo.
TERROIR: Vineyards over 60 years old located in Rioja Alta, specifically in the villages of Ábalos (Caramonte), characterized by sandy soil derived from weathered parent rock, and Labastida (Carrapaciña), which features sandy and alluvial soils.
WINEMAKING: Selection of grapes from 60- to 65-year-old vineyards, chosen for their specific acidity and pH characteristics that promote longevity. Cold maceration occurs for 4 days, followed by controlled fermentation lasting up to 16 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in concrete tanks. The wine is aged for 30 months in 225-litre American oak barrels, followed by an additional 48 months in the bottle.
2016 VINTAGE: The growing season was marked by a very cold winter followed by a particularly rainy spring, causing f lowering to start 15 days later than usual. A dry summer with high temperatures enhanced the final phase of development, resulting in a high-quality harvest, which commenced in the third week of September. The Regulatory Council classified the vintage as ‘Very Good’.
