Sonoma County Red – Ravenswood Besieged 750ml

‘This is no contrived wine even with the label. Yes, it’s dark and brooding from the near-black bottle, black label, black neck capsule and black cork to the inky-colored essence of grapes inside. It’s a blend of Petite Syrah, Carignane, Zinfandel, Syrah, Alicante Bouschet, Barbera and Mourvedre – all of which can be pretty scary by themselves but as a blend?! Flavors pop with with oak, dry dark berry fruit, black pepper spice, earthiness, deep color, length on the palate and acidity for structure.
