Chardonnay – La Crema Monterey 750ml

Tasting Note: This is a very attractive chardonnay that features purity of fruit, lovely acidity, and excellent integration and harmony. The fruit itself is a delicious feature of the wine. It has depth and weight but carries itself lightly. The acidity is broad-based rather than linear and sharp-edged, but it’s no less effective in contributing to the drinkability and food-fitness of the wine. As for the oak (five month in French barrels, 15% new) it’s exceptionally well handled here. A hint of toastiness in the aromas and flavours, just enough to add interest, not enough to detract from the purity.
