Puglia Primitivo – Layer Cake 750ml

Sourced from old vines situated in the red, iron-rich clay soils of Manduria, this 100% Primitivo (a.k.a. Zinfandel) is labelled IGT rather than DOC because the winemaker felt that the wine demonstrated better balance at 13% alcohol rather than the 14% alcohol required for DOC status. Look for (yes) layers of dense black fruit with peppery spice notes and earthy overtones. This will be a fine choice for braised ribs.
